Hornet Field closed for maintenance

Please note that Hornet field will is closed for the next 6-8 weeks while we get rid of some broad leaf weeds that are killing the grass.

It’s important to keep off the fields to allow for proper maintenance for the upcoming season so if you see any unauthorized groups using Hornet field, please email the ASC Field Coordinator so he can contact Alameda Police.

Pre-Tryout Training Wrap-Up.

I would like to thank all the families that brought their kids out to attend our Pre-Tryout training. It was great to see all the kids out, and have the event so well attended. To re-cap, the kids were shown the drills and procedures we will use during our Competitive Tryouts on Jan 24/25

Over the weekend we got to meet about 300 Alameda soccer players, and about 48 athletes interested in playing goalie.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the ASC Tryouts! Please remember Alameda Little League moved their tryouts back one week so now both soccer and baseball are on the same weekend. We made sure times allowed for both tryouts, but remember parking around Ritler will be busy.

Competitive Soccer Tryout Times

Competitive Soccer tryouts for the 2015 season will be held at Rittler Park on January 24th and 25th. Times are by age group and are on both Saturday and Sunday. Please check the age chart to see which age group your child falls into.

Register on Sportability and bring signed medical release forms with you.

Please remember, kids should not wear their team uniforms, or any t-shirt that relates to a specific group, organization, or local team. Kids should wear a plain t-shirt and dress appropriate for the weather. If a player wears a team jersey or t-shirt they will be asked to change. This is so our tryouts are a fair opportunity for all kids trying out.

Time Age Group
8 – 9:30 U10 Boys, U12 Boys
9:30 – 11 U11 Boys
11-12:30 U14 Boys, U11 Girls
12:30 – 2 U9 Boys, U9 Girls, U10 Girls
2 – 3:30 U14 Girls, U12 Girls
3:30 – 5 U13 Boys, U13 Girls

For boys and girls U15-U19 tryouts. Time, date, and location TBA. We are looking at late February.

For more details about tryouts and the January 10th and 11th pre-tryout training, see our previous post.

Alameda Futsal Registration

The Alameda Futsal League winter season registration is open between now and January 10th. Visit alamedafutsalclub.org for details.

Alameda Futsal League

From their email announcement:

Futsal + Soccer = Development

What makes futsal so good for development? The game is played in a well-defined space, with boundaries instead of walls – this makes futsal similar to outdoor soccer. The speed of the game also challenges the players to think and act quickly. The game also rewards keeping possession and playing in control. In these ways, playing futsal complements and accelerates soccer skills. Still, futsal goes further because all the players are constantly engaged and actively playing – there’s no walking about waiting for action.

Annual General Meeting on January 12th

The Alameda Soccer Club Annual General Meeting will be on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. The location of the meeting will be at the Alameda High School College Counseling Center – enter the parking lot off Walnut St, room entrance is at end of building on right side. Here is a map.

The 2015 Board will be elected at this meeting so this is your chance to have a say in who is on the 2015 Board AHS College Counseling Center and to learn more about the Club. All Club members are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there. In the meantime, have a happy and safe holiday season!
