I would like to thank Erik Coker, our Treasurer, for providing the transportation for our very successful ASC entry into this year’s parade. I would also like to thank Dave Lekashman, our Secretary, for co-chairing this effort with me. Thanks to the parents of our ASC players that helped supervise our riders during the parade. Mostly, I want to thank our 30+ float riders that truly made it a successful event.

Give back to your community, then get something back for you and your team. The ASC Volunteer Program has been established to allow parents and families to be reimbursed for volunteer activities associated with ASC teams and the club. As you may have noticed the fees have been raise slightly this year to cover expenses and to improve the training for all ASC players. In order to offset some of the fee increases you are encouraged to volunteer for listed activities and at the end of the season can request a reimbursement towards the fall player fee.

I know it’s Summer and the last thing you want to think about is homework but the Summer is the best time to hone your skills and get ready for the Fall season Chris Lonsdale put together a great site with some exercises that players can do to improve their conditioning. ASC Islander Footskills has links to videos (like the one below) of workout drills that you can practice on your own to get ready for the upcoming season.
