The league season is expected to begin in September and continue for 8-10 weekends. Traditionally, practices would start in late August, but this is not a traditional year. The practice and game schedules will be set once healthcare experts deem it safe to return, registration is closed, and teams are formed, but as a general guideline:
1. U6: Single event per week. Sunday afternoons in Alameda, with 30 minutes of practice followed by a 30 minute match.
2. U7 & U8: Two events per week. One practice during the week, in Alameda and usually at the team coach’s preferred field. The weekly match is on Saturdays, also in Alameda.
3. U10 & Above: Teams typically practice twice during the week in Alameda, and play one match each weekend. Matches are played on either Saturday or Sunday, and played in Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, Montclair and/or Piedmont. Farthest drive during the season is typically 20 minutes.
Our anticipated Fall 2020 Recreational Program fees are below. These fees were based on assuming a normal, full season of soccer, including practices, games, and U10 and above Fall league tournament. They also include an increase in per player fees from JLYSL (Jack London Youth Soccer League) for 2020-21, for fields, administration, and referee costs that was set prior to the current situation. Given the uncertainty about the upcoming season, we are not sure if JLYSL will adjust their fees or if COVID-19 restrictions will limit trainings and competitions.
Fall 2020 Recreational Program Fees:
- U6 – $175
- U7 – $225
- U8 – $225
- U10 and Above – $300
At this point it is hard to know exactly what the season will look like, but we feel confident that at the minimum some form of training will be able to take place in the near future.
We are collecting a minimal $20 non-refundable deposit from each player that will be used for administrative costs and to purchase player passes (registration in US Soccer) which provide insurance coverage for our players. It also enables us to be ready to return to train/play as soon as we receive clearance.
Our plan is to revisit these fees at the end of June when we may know more, make adjustments, and set up an installment payment structure that will allow us to have players pay as closely as possible for the training and events they will receive. The $20 initial deposit will be deducted from any future fees paid.
NOTE: Since Sports Connect is a new registration platform for ASC, all families will have to register as a new user. Once you register your child, the website will automatically send you to the appropriate age group to complete registration.
Once teams are formed and the league sets schedules, coaches will provide families with further information. Please do not expect to have game or practice schedules until shortly before the season begins.
